Magical Woodland Weddings

Updated: Jun 24, 2022

I wanted to achieve "Magic in the Woods" within an enchanting magical woodland setting, where the current trend is to marry outdoors and woodlands are the perfect setting for rustic boho weddings. I had been wanting to do a rustic boho shoot in the woods for a while, then after weeks of planning and nervously watching the weather, we finally decided to go for it. The tall bare tree trunks were the inspiration for this shoot, they enchanted me, so I wanted to find an outdoor venue that had them and Browning Bros had a beautiful space in their Teybrook Orchard that featured tall bare tree trunks in abundance, as the long winter meant the trees were not very leafy, which allowed us to shoot wide angle shots, that captured them beautifully. I wanted earthy natural colours for the lovely props supplied by Harrison Events and Dolly's Vintage Tea Party, and to add warm pops of colour in the beautiful florals supplied by The Natural Florist Cambs, that stood out amongst the browns and greens of nature. We only had a few props, but less is more in a natural setting such as this, and the simplicity of the shoot shone through, as did the sun that afternoon which we were all smiling about, as it was touch and go worrying that we may have to postpone the shoot due to the weather, and we were lucky that it rained after we left! The team were a great fit for the concept as they were all able to add their magical touches with their props, florals and my pampas which fitted the rustic boho theme perfectly. The pampas and florals that adorned the arch beautifully showed off the boho style in this rustic setting. The bright pops of colour from the smoke bombs added more colour to the earthy tones of this magical woodland and all this beauty was captured by the talented Louise Goodey Photography and brought to life in a magical film by Joshua Andrew Potter. The models Michele and Graziella looked lovely in their vintage boho dresses supplied by Indiebride London who supply handmade bohemian and vintage wedding dresses made in London, and their choice of dresses fit a rustic boho wedding beautifully. The talented hair stylist Clare Louise Hair is a bridal hair and curly hair specialist, and she was able to give the girls beautiful stylish hair styles which were not too formal but free and playful, which worked beautifully with the gorgeous bridal head pieces made and supplied by the talented Rachel Chaprunne, which gave this look an edge. Michelle wore the pampas grass and Preciosa pearls headpiece, which also features a little gold vintage style embellishment and has a vintage vibe, and Graziella wore the Tatiana golden spiky crown, and both fits a boho bride. The lovely makeup look was styled by Makeup By Zhana, we went for a free spirited boho look which also featured a bold and neutral lip colour, which all blended in well with the environment we were in. If you have ever wondered how do I get married in the woods, well it's easy, there are many outdoor wedding venues in the UK and finding a celebrant like Jamie Walker Humanist Celebrant, who can help you create your wedding vows adds a real personal touch. Getting married with a humanist celebrant allows you to embrace nature and marry outdoors and separates your legal paperwork from your wedding day, where you get married at the registry office and then have a humanist ceremony that allows you to hold your wedding where, when and how you want".
